Membership Information

Aerovalley is a non-equity, non markup flight club.  What that means is we do everything in our power to keep the cost of flying for our members as low as possible while still providing a great, well maintained fleet, club activities, and instruction opportunities.

We have provided a frequently asked questions section to the right.  These are the most commonly asked questions by new prospective members.

Our cost is $75 per month with a $250 deposit.

We have several instructors available but only a limited number of primary student pilot places open at any give time.  Because students earn their PPL at various times, it is hard to say what our availability for primary students will be at any given time. We will indicate below the number of student spots are currently available.

Primary Student Slots Available: 0

Check back again soon to see if we have added any spots.

What are the membership costs?

The cost to be a member is simple. There is a $250 deposit that is refundable after the first 12 months / payments of membership. The monthly membership dues are $75.  The first month membership dues and deposit are due with your application.

How does the billing cycle work?

Our flight calendar is from the 25th of one month to the 24th of the next (ya ya… don’t ask it’s a long story).  On the 25th each member is billed their dues through our member management system called Flight Circle.  All payments of dues and accumulated flight time are due by the 10th of the month. All payments must be made via a debit / credit card.

What are the dry rates on the planes?

The dry rates are based on tach time. They are published on each of the planes pages under the fleet section. Since our fleet and rates may change from time to time, they are not published here.  To view the fleet info, click here.

Do I have to cary renter's insurance?

Yes. Our minimums are $20,000 hull coverage and we can tell you who to contact to get your insurance squared away with the right coverages. Most members tell use they are happy to find that the cost of the insurance is far less than they anticipated.

How do you schedule time for the planes?

We use a system called Flight Circle. Flight Circle handles all of the scheduling of the aircraft as well as the checking in / out and the maintenance squawks.

Where are your planes hangared?

The Cessna 172, Cessna 152 and the Piper Cherokee 235 are hangared at 52F (Northwest Regional). Our Warrior is hangared at DTO.

What kind of events do we have as a club?

Our club holds lots of events each year. We have bbq’s and hangar hangouts as well as more formal events around the holidays. We also do training sessions of tacos and beer from time to time too. We definitely like to socialize as club.  We also encourage “Flying with Friends”. We like to think we are very welcoming as a club and there are definitely opportunities to make some new aviation friends.

Do you have instructors in the club that can provide BFR's, checkouts, instrument, commercial, and other type rating instruction?

Yes! We have several club instructors available. As a member you will work directly with them on scheduling and payments. Each instructor sets their own rates and work independently of the club, however we require all of our instructors to also be members. So you know they will take the time and care needed to give you the best instruction.

What sets your club apart from other flying clubs in the area?

We are a no-markup club. That means we keep the fees as low as possible to promote affordability in aviation. Our member fees cover all of the overhead costs of hangars and other basic club necessities. The dry rates have $0 club markup. We also have 4 planes in the club, including a 172, 152, Warrior and Cherokee 235, which makes us unique.  With a few more members we might expand to 5 planes soon. Also, we just love to fly and we want to share our passion for aviation with others.
